Big Notts Switch is taking the hassle and confusion out of switching your energy supplier. Returning for a fourth year, climate change charity, Nottingham Energy Partnership (NEP), in partnership with iChoosr, encourage Nottinghamshire households to join Big Notts Switch and find a cheaper, greener energy deal.
It’s free to sign up and is part of a nationwide Collective Switching scheme. It brings together thousands of people from across the country looking for a better energy price – last winter over 33,000 homes registered achieving an online dual fuel saving of £324. Electricity only and paper bill customers are also catered for.
“Seven out of ten UK households are still overpaying for their energy – this is an easy way for people to switch from those expensive deals, i.e. standard tariffs and variable deals. The more people that register the cheaper the final deal will be!”
Mark Kirkwood, NEP Affordable Warmth Development Manager
Collective switching tariffs are negotiated through an auction, with the best priced tariff winning. These tariffs are typically bespoke and not available elsewhere. To win a pool of new customers, energy companies outbid each other by offering the lowest price. New to this year is that all electricity tariffs are 100% renewable.
This year the Queen’s award winning charity welcomes support from local councils and organisations who are keen to help residents, especially those that have not switched for some time and are likely to be paying more for their gas and electricity. Residents who sign up for the scheme can consider the offer before deciding whether or not to switch suppliers.
If you have been thinking about switching, but have not had the confidence, or the time, this simple, people powered initiative could be for you. What have you got to lose? There is no obligation to switch.
Registration is open until February 9th 2021, please visit www.nottenergy.com/bignottsswitch or call 0115 784 6696 – make sure you have your energy provider, tariff name and yearly energy data to hand. You can find this information on a recent annual statement.
Important dates
• Register by 9th February 2021
• Receive your personal offer by 2nd March
• Accept offers by 23rd March 2021
The auction will be facilitated by iChoosr, independant experts in group buying.
The amount of money that can be saved will vary depending on individual factors such as the current tariff, payment method, consumption and the winning bid. There is no guarantee that an offer will be the cheapest but the model aims to ensure most participants are offered lower annual energy bills than they are on currently paying or are available at the time of the offer.
The same email address can be used to register up to five households – allowing people to do it on behalf of family and friends who do not have internet access.
