As the temperature plummets, fuel poverty charity, Nottingham Energy Partnership step up to bring down the cost of replacing a broken boiler. Grants of up to £1,000 are now available to help eligible private households stay warm, safe and healthy.

The not-for-profit’s Healthy Housing Service is offering these grants to families and people over the age of 60 who own their home or privately rent. Recipients must have limited savings and income and must have a boiler that is not working. Visit their website www.healthy-housing-service.com for criteria detail or have a chat with the team 0115 985 3009.
Replacing an old boiler brings long-term benefits. Up to 60% of an energy bill is spent on heating, so by improving the energy efficiency of your boiler, it will not only be safer and more reliable, but will use less gas to heat your home which means a saving on your heating bill – anything up to £240 a year.
Mrs K from Bestwood recently received a subsidised boiler through NEP.
“Our 30 year old back boiler was never good at keeping us warm and I wasn’t convinced it was very safe – our new one heats the house within two hours, so we need it on for less time – I’m sure my gas bill should come down. The best thing for me is that my daughter actually wants to take her coat off when she comes in and there are no cold rooms in the house!”
Mrs K, Bestwood, Nottingham
This is just one of NEP’s Healthy Housing energy efficiency schemes, they try to offer something for everyone, so get in touch should you need a boiler service, repair, full replacement or home insulation. This year NEP became an approved Home Improvement Agency – find out more about this.
Miranda Cumberbatch, NEP’s Affordable Warm Development Manager highlights the need to stay warm:
“We have introduced this grant to make boilers more affordable. Without adequate heating, health problems can soon develop, especially in children and the elderly. If your boiler is not working as it should please contact us – we also have a repairs service that pays for 50% of the cost, up to the cost of £400, for eligible households, and we can offer general advice on how to keep your energy bills down”.
