We offer a range of energy efficiency surveys designed to reduce energy costs.
Why are energy surveys important?
- Building users are required by law to undertake energy surveys and maintain building energy certificates.
- Significant cost savings on energy bills are often achievable with low or no cost improvements
- More costly improvements can often pay for themselves quickly and even be funded through grants and finance.
Display Energy Certificates (DECs)
From 9th July 2015 all public buildings with a total floor area of 250m2 or greater are obligated by law to be in the possession of a valid Display Energy Certificate (DEC) and Advisory Report (AR).
DECs highlight the energy performance of building using a scale that runs from A to G, where A is very efficient and G is the least efficient. The rating is based on the actual amount of metered energy used by the building over a 12 month assessment period, while the Advisory Report contains recommendations for improving the energy efficiency of the building (i.e. its fabric and associated services such as heating, ventilation and lighting).
Where the building has a total floor area of 1,000m² or more, the DEC is valid for 12 months. The accompanying advisory report is valid for 7 years. For buildings with a floor area measuring 250m² – 999m², both the DEC and advisory report are valid for 10 years.
Over the last two years Tom Muncey, NEP’s commercial Energy Assessor has delivered over 600 DECs to schools, leisure centres, rugby clubs and even recycling centres.
NEP Energy Services has longstanding contracts with Nottinghamshire County Council, Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council. NEP is also part of Derby City Council’s new DEC framework launching soon.
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
EPCs rank a building’s energy efficiency through the use of a simple A-G rating. The certificate shows how energy efficient a building is and how much could be saved on future energy bills if they make improvements.
Renewable Feasibility Studies
We deliver feasibility studies for renewable energy systems; we can also offer support as an independent expert in ensuring best value in finding funding, planning applications, procurement and project management of technology solutions.
Opportunities Assessment – Energy Efficiency Survey
Going beyond legal compliance and certification, NEPes offer independent, in-depth energy efficiency surveys. Recommendations made in the report provide sufficient detail to inform investment decisions, financing or funding applications.
The reports give details of the costs and savings for a range of energy efficiency measures suitable for your building and each report can be tailored specifically to suit your building and your requirements.
As a minimum, each survey will investigate:
- Heating, Cooling and Ventilation
- Building fabric
- Outline assessment of the potential for renewable energy generation
You will be provided with a site-specific energy survey report, detailing energy efficiency opportunities, their installation costs and likely savings potential.
