What home improvement measures are available?
Through Green Grants Phase 3, select local authorities within Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire will be offering a variety of free home energy improvements. These will vary from area to area and will be outlined within the targeted marketing. See below more information about the scheme’s home energy improvements.
External Solid Wall Insulation
Up to 45% of household heat escapes through uninsulated solid walls! Adding solid wall insulation (SWI) is one of the most effective ways to reduce your energy bills and carbon footprint, it keeps your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
Solar PV
Photovoltaic (PV) panels convert energy from the sun into electricity. If your roof is suitable, generate your own electricity will lowe your energy bills and carbon footprint.
Loft Insulation
25% if your heat is lost through an uninsulated loft. If your existing loft insulation depth is less than 150mm, this scheme may be able to insulate your loft for free.
Cavity Wall Insulation
Cavity walls are made of two layers of brick with a gap in between. Blowing insulation into this gap can reduce heat loss though the walls, lowering your energy bills and carbon footprint.
Air Source Heat Pump
Replacing your boiler with an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) can be one of the most effective ways to de-carbonise your heating system. Heat pumps are most efficient when operating at low temperatures, so your house needs to be well insulated for the system to work well. ASHPs work by absorbing heat from the air – they will work even when temperatures are as low as -15°C outside.
